Design Can Change Pledge

Many of us (myself included) discuss what could happen in the event of climate change. We now have crossed the threshold of “what if” to a recognizable impact in our world.

Design Can Change is a not-for-profit grassroots campaign targeted at designers and provides education on how we can make changes in the way we work to have a measurable impact on our earth’s climate crisis.

I was unaware of the amount of paper waste that comes just from direct mail campaigns, and I work in an agency that specializes in brand direct. The numbers are astounding. There are approximately 230 pieces of unsolicited mail each year per American, and 65 billion pieces for the United States alone. The paper industry is the third largest polluter to air, water, and land in Canada and the United States. This is just one of several points mentioned on the site.

After viewing the whole presentation I took the pledge and felt the need to pass along this valuable information to my friends and colleagues. Please have a look and pass it along if you agree.
